CSPR in Eastern Province hails Sichone

The Civil Society for Poverty Reduction (CSPR) in Eastern Province has expressed its gratitude to Provincial Minister Malozo Sichone for the profession stance he has taken on the suspensions of various Civil Servants in Eastern Province.

CSPR Eastern Province Coordinator Maxson Nkhoma strongly feels Mr. Sichone should be commended for taking personal interest in reviewing the suspensions slapped on various Civil Servants in the Province on a case by case basis.

Mr. Nkhoma says those found wanting should face necessary disciplinary action in accordance with Government standing orders and regulations governing the civil service.

He says his organization does not support any wrong doing by public service workers in Eastern Province, but that he is worried and concerned with the unprecedented high number of public service workers suspended from work in the recent past.

Mr Nkhoma says the move raised a lot of questions among stakeholders on whether the public service commission had employed a group of wrong people in the public service in Eastern Province alone.

Mr. Nkhoma believes most of the suspensions were taken without conducting due diligence by controlling officers, a situation which if allowed to continue will make government lose huge sums of money through re-paying full salaries to those who were wrongly suspended.
