Health Minister Dr. Joseph Kasonde
Health Minister Joseph Kasonde says construction works have commenced at only 155 sites out of the 650 health posts government has earmarked to construct countrywide.
Dr. Kasonde has told Parliament in a ministerial statement that construction of substructure has been done at 78 sites awaiting the erection of prefabricated super structures.
He has disclosed that prefabricated structures for 163 sites have already arrived in the country in readiness for commencement of erection.
Dr. Kasonde states this is in addition to the arrival of materials for borehole construction for sixty percent of the all sites.
He has however stated that completion of the construction works for the 650 health posts is still scheduled for April 2016.
Dr. Kasonde has since assured the House and the nation at large that the Patriotic Front government is committed to ensuring the 650 health posts construction project is delivered on time.
