The Zambia Council for Social Development (ZCSD) says government institutions benefiting from the borrowed funds should be more accountable and responsible in the utilization of such funds.
Organisation Executive Secretary Lewis Mwape notes that if the parastatals benefiting from borrowed money are not transparent enough, the government will not have the capacity to repay back the loans.
Mr Mwape says prudent application of resource is important as it will also help those that are against borrowing to understand that money being borrowed is being used for the right purposes.
He notes that if institutions benefiting from the loan proceeds use it for the purposes it is has been borrowed for, it will help the country move forward.
Mr. Mwape further states that stiff measures should be put in place to ensure that the money being borrowed is not misapplied so that the country is able to pay back within the stipulated time.
