NW province grade 12 level performance getting better- PEO

North Western Provincial Education Officer Allan Lingambe says his region has recorded a steady increase in the performance of pupils at grade 12 level.

Mr. Lingambe says that the results have given the authority confidence for better performance in the coming years.

Mr. Lingambe observes that the Province has maintained the sixth position in terms of performance in the Country.

He attributed this year’s steady performance to a reduction in absenteeism cases among the pupils.

He notes that a total of 6,513 candidates entered to sit for grade 12 general examinations in 2014 and that 6,364 sat for the examinations out of which a total number of 146 candidates were absent.

Mr Lingambe notes that the absenteeism rate has reduced considerably by 0.2 percent compared to previous years adding that deliberate efforts by the authorities to encourage pupils to attend classes were bearing fruits.

Mr. Lingambe has notes that the total number of pupils who obtained full grade 12 certificates is 3,478 while the rest obtained GCE certificates noting that the pass percentage rate stood at 54.65%.

He has since appealed to teachers and parents to work as partners in ensuring better results for the pupils this year.

Mr Lingambe also advised pupils to stop relaying on the so called leakages but instead concentrate on their studies and not blame teachers for their bad performance.
