ZDDM to introduce new mode of Democracy

The opposition ZDDM has announced its plan of introducing a new mode of democracy with the aim of reuniting the Zambian people in 2016.

The ZDDM wants to broaden its campaign to save the country from what it is calling self destruction through the introduction of Direct Democracy.

In a statement to Qfm News ZDDM president Edwin Sakala says his party wants to introduce Direct Democracy because it thinks that multiparty politics has failed in Zambia.

Mr. Sakala states that the new mode of democracy his party the ZDDM is advocating for is a hybrid of a one party participatory democracy and multipartism.

He says under this kind of Democracy the ZDDM would like to see a new style of ordinary citizens’ participation in governance through every ministry of government and having peoples committees which will flow from national, provincial, district to village and township level .

Mr. Sakala says with this new mode of Democracy political parties will also exist and will have a chance to represent the people from the areas of influence in government.

He notes that for example the opposition UPND will govern southern province and the ADD will be governing Western province, while Peoples Party will be given the mandate to govern Central province.

Mr. Sakala says it is this kind of democracy the ZDDM is assured of restoring the spirit of love, unity, nationalism and patriotism as citizens will once again focus on development and progressive issues.
