Lungu has no preferred candidate for Chawama – Chama

Patriotic Front Secretary General Davies Chama has dismissed reports suggesting that President Edgar Lungu has his preferred candidate in the Chawama parliamentary by-election.

Mr. Chama has told Qfm news in an interview that President Lungu has so far not interfered in the process of interviewing the 23 applicants that are eyeing the Chawama   parliamentary seat on the PF ticket.

Mr. Chama stresses that the ruling party will remain transparent and that no underhand methods will be used in selecting the right candidates in any of the by-elections set for April.

He says it is unfortunate that some people are speculating on falsehoods with regards the party’s selection of its candidates.

Mr. Chama adds that nothing will change as the party officials responsible for interviewing candidates are conversant with the dos and don’t hence the criteria of selecting candidates remains intact.

He has since advised all the applicants to remain patient and wait for the party to select the right candidates for Chawama and other pending parliamentary by-elections will be held.
