Fast Jet Zambia has disclosed that it plans to invest about fifteen million United States dollars in its operations in Zambia.

Speaking today during a media breakfast briefing to mark the company’s first anniversary in Zambia, Fast Jet Chief Executive Officer Ed Winter has also reiterated the company’s commitment to job creation in the country.

He says the company has commenced a recruitment drive of pilots, crew, sales and customer service staff.

Mr. Winter says the company expects to employ about 170 people directly with hundreds more working in secondary services.

He adds that the company intends to establish international routes initially between Lusaka and Johannesburg, Nairobi in Kenya and Harare in Zimbabwe thereby offering Zambian citizens the choice of affordable flights.

Mr. Winter further states that Fast Jet supports the Zambian government’s visionary investment in the international airport infrastructure, stating that the investment will result in Zambia’s international airports being seen amongst the best in Africa both from an infrastructure and a service delivery view point.

He adds that this is also an indication of how the business and political environments in Zambia have been progressive.
