National Restoration Party (NAREP) President Elias Chipimo says there is need to broaden the reach of the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) so that everyone can begin to pay tax.
Mr. Chipimo notes that it is sad that out of the six and a half million people that working in the country, only close to two million are being taxed while others are not paying anything which is unfair.
Mr. Chipimo notes that there are many ways in which money can be extracted from the economic activities which are taking place in the country and the money put to good use.
He states that the only challenge the country has is that it does not know how to spend the money.
Mr Chipimo adds that even if the country borrows money, it is not spent in the right way or on the right things but is spent on less important things.
Mr. Chipimo states that only a small percentage of the money government receives goes to developmental projects, but wants to make it look like they are spending so much on developmental projects.
He says it is important that government begins to spend money on the right things stressing that the right things are those that will help to improve the potential of every citizen to make an effective contribution to the society.
