Lungu calls on Church to stamp out violence, tribalism

EDGAR CLRepublican President Edgar Lungu has called on the church in the country to play a role in uniting the nation by stamping out tribalism and violence.

Speaking during interdenominational thanks giving mass for the peaceful elections at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross this afternoon, President Lungu says Zambia will remain a Christian nation.

President Lungu has also called on the nation to embrace unity of purpose in a bid to promote peace and harmony in the country.

He acknowledges the role the church played before the 20th January presidential by-elections and has since thanked them for making the patriotic front a united party.

President Lungu has further called on the nation to preach love and not hate if the country has to record both social and economic development.

And in the thanks giving sermon, Trans African theological college principle Reverend Adrian Chalwe thanked the republican president for his inclusiveness with his government appointments.

Reverend Chalwe says it is time for all Zambian to rally behind president Lungu to collectively develop as a nation.
