PPAZ urges empowerment of NGOs delivery family planning services

Planned Parenthood Association of Zambia (PPAZ) says there is need for government to focus on empowering local nongovernmental organizations delivery family planning services.

PPAZ Executive Director Edford Mutuma notes that the majority of the NGOs in Zambia are unable to contribute to the reduction of maternal mortality and providing family planning to communities because they lack resources.

Mr. Mutuma states that his organization has done its level best in implementing and scaling up reproductive health services in communities where it operates.

He notes that international organizations are the ones mainly involved in providing family planning and maternal health services.

Mr. Mutuma says this is a risky situation considering that international organizations do not have long-term programmes.
