First Lady Esther Lungu has lamented the high number of teenage pregnancies the country has continued to record.

Mrs Lungu has told Qfm News in an interview that it is unfortunate that the country has continued to record a high number of girls dropping out of school as a result of teenage pregnancies which are putting the lives of many girls at risk.

Mrs. Lungu says it is her responsibility to work closely with relevant stakeholders and ensure that girls are protected.

She notes that it is important for parents to ensure that they find better ways of talking with the girl child and encourage them to work hard in school if they are to have a bright future.

The First Lady has since indicated that once she gets settled in her office she will see the way forward on how best the issue of teenage pregnancies can be dealt with.
