ZACA hails Lungu’s directive to ZESCO

Zambia Consumers Association (ZACA) has hailed President Edgar Lungu’s directive to the power utility ZESCO to ensure electricity tariffs are pro poor for domestic consumers.

ZACA Executive Secretary Samuel Simutunda in an interview notes that the current tariffs are too high for the majority consumers across the country.

Mr. Simutunda says the directive by President Lungu has therefore come at the right time   when many consumers are struggling to meet ends meet when it comes to paying bills for electricity.

He laments that domestic consumers in the country have continued to be subjected to high tariff rates when such charges are supposed to be paid by big companies such as the mines.

Mr. Simutunda adds that ZACA feels that the move will bring relief to many Zambians who have been struggling to pay electricity bills.
