Police in Lusaka have arrested an undisclosed number of suspects in connection with the assaulting of a woman trader at Soweto Market over the weekend.

Inspector General of Police Stella Libongani has told journalists in Lusaka that the Police is alive to the fact that Republican President Edgar Lungu does not condone violence and that they will do anything within their limits to curb the vice.

Ms Libongani says the Police service will therefore bring all culprits perpetuating violence to book in no time.

Ms Libongani states that since last month’s elections, Police have been on high alert in order to preserve peace and will not tolerate any form of violence.
