The Non Governmental organisations Coordinating Council (NGOCC) has urged the Patriotic Front leadership especially President Edgar Lungu to denounce and stop the violence by PF cadres especially against those perceived to be members of other political parties.

The NGOCC has since condemned in the strongest terms what it has described as the barbaric and undemocratic conduct of the Patriotic Front (PF) cadres who brutally beat up a woman trader at Soweto market on Saturday, February 14, 2015.

NGOCC Executive Director Engwase Mwale in a statement to QFM News says it is totally unacceptable for anyone, including cadres of the ruling party to brutally beat up and assault women.

Mrs Mwale notes that the market place is mostly occupied by women who are barely struggling to survive the harsh economic realities by trading, stating that violence in market places can deter women from earning the much-needed income.

Mrs Mwale states that it is a known fact that women, as mothers bear more the brunt of the harsh realities of the economy, such as the high mealie meal prices.

She says therefore brutalizing them as they fend for their families is regrettable and unacceptable.

Mrs Mwale says it is regrettable that PF cadres brutalized a family on the basis of their political affiliation, when the republican constitution guarantees the rights to freedom of association to every person including Ms Agness Ndhlovu and her family.

She adds that the NGOCC appeals to Inspector General of Police, Stellah Libongani to immediately apprehend, Bright Mumba the Soweto PF chairperson for the assault against Ms. Ndholvu and her family.

Mrs Mwale says the behavior by these cadres if not arrested immediately is a receipt for anarchy in the nation.
