NCC introduces new criterion for measuring CPDs

The National Council for Construction (NCC) has introduced a new criterion for measuring Continuous Professional Development (CPDs) for Contractors Upgrade.

The new criterion that has been launched with the support of the National Road Fund Agency (NRFA) is meant for Lusaka Province based small and medium scale contractors.

Speaking during the opening of the Provincial Training Workshop for Lusaka Province based small and medium scale contractors today, NCC Executive Director Charles Mushota also announced the launch of the NCC 2015 material testing, and earth moving and plant operator courses.

Mr. Mushota has disclosed that the council is crafting criteria for Grades 1 & 2 Contactors Renewals because it has come to the realization that Technology Transfer or Apprenticeship cannot take place without a targeted intervention for big contractor to help.

He notes that Courses in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) shall also become Mandatory and that this is being done to try and install a robust OSH Culture in the construction sector as enshrined in other pieces of legislation like the Factories Act, Workers Compensation Fund Control Board among others.

Mr. Mushota states that the council has also included short courses for financial literacy and Green Building Technologies among others.
