The opposition MMD has been cautioned to seriously conduct an introspection of itself if it is to evade its impending extinction.

The opposition political party is being advised to do a postmortem of itself by way of its current leadership examining itself.

The Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD) thinks that the manner in which the current leadership has been running party affairs by expelling and suspending some of its alleged disgruntled members is not the solution.

Executive Director Neo Simutanyi says his organization is of the position that the leadership of the former ruling party should go back on drawing and work at unifying the party.

Dr. Simutanyi states that the MMD leadership should use its party’s performance in the January 20th 2015 presidential election as a tool see how divided the party is.

He says this implies that the MMD must right away start resolving the problem that is behind the internal divisions.

Dr. Simutanyi has cautioned that should this not happen before the 2016 general elections, the MMD is mostly likely to be wiped out as it has already been demonstrated by its performance in last month’s presidential election.
