Lungu hosts faction MMD NEC meeting at his residence

The opposition MMD faction National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting which was this morning disrupted by the Police was this afternoon successfully held at former party National Secretary Muhabi Lungu’s residence in Lusaka.

The meeting has resolved that the expulsion of all party members that was rendered by another NEC meeting chaired by party president Nevers Mumba are now null and void.

Addressing a media briefing this afternoon Kabinga Pande who has been expelled from his position of party national chairman has told journalists that the recent expulsions and suspensions announced in his party are illegal because the party constitution was not followed.

Mr. Pande says it is not right for anyone to continue having parallel party structures apart from the real MMD with its bonafide members that were duly elected by the party.

He has maintains that MMD president Dr. Mumba has completely breached the party constitution because he has gone parallel to what the constitution states and has also began to appoint his own executive such as the party national treasure Mwansa Mbulakulima is who is now said to be National Secretary of the former ruling party.

Mr. Pande who has also maintained he is still the legitimate MMD National Chairman, states that he will not allow selfish people to destroy the party but will ensure that the party goes for a convention to elect new leaders and revert to the normal position if the party is to be strengthened.

The MMD faction NEC meeting which was attended by about thirty three party official included among others Kembe Member of Parliament Ronnie Shikapwasha, Rufunsa Member of Parliament Kenneth Chipungu, Sinda Member of Parliament Levy Ngoma, expelled MMD national women chairperson Faustina Sinyangwe .
