World Bank US$67m concessional loan towards ZHSIP cheers TALC

Treatment Advocacy and Literacy Campaign (TALC) has commended the World Bank for giving Zambia a concessional loan of US$67million towards the Zambia Health Services Improvement Project (ZHSIP).

TALC country Director Felix Mwanza says the monies have come at the right time when most of the health centers in the country are facing critical drug shortages.

Mr. Mwanza says there is need for government to face reality and begin to accept that majority patients are staying without drugs for certain period of time due to shortages.

He says the World Bank has done a commendable job by granting the loan, stating that the monies will go a long way in changing things in the health service delivery system.

Mr. Mwanza has since appealed to the ministry of health to use the funds prudently and ensure enough drugs and state of art equipment is procured in hospitals.
