President Lungu talks to Agriculture Minister Given Lubinda before departure for Angola

Republican President Edgar Lungu this morning left for Angola on an official visit as some overzealous Police officers and Airport staff at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport blocked Journalists from covering his departure.

Panic gripped the officers involved when President Lungu inquired on the absence of the national broadcaster, ZNBC.

Journalists including one from QFM tried to reason with the uncompromising officers to allow them access into the airport to cover the President but their plea yielded no result.

The journalists were only allowed to enter the runway after the presidential jet had taken off.

The move angered some PF officials who were also blocked from entering and threatened to break the doors just to allow the journalists enter to cover the President.

The Police and Airport staff repeatedly told journalists that they had serious instructions from State House not to allow anyone to pass through the airport screening point.

Patriotic Front cadres exchanged bitter words with the officers and wondered why some journalists were blocked from proceeding to the runway.

President Lungu will while in Angola address Parliament in the capital Luanda.

Presidents Lungu will together with his Angolan counterpart Eduardo Dos Santos later fly to Luau, Moxico Province to join DRC President Joseph Kabila for the official launch of the rehabilitated Benguela Railway line.
