President Lungu appoints Mwamba as Ambassador to Malaysia

Lungu & MWAMBAPresident Edgar Lungu has appointed former Information and Broadcasting Services Permanent Secretary Emmanuel Mwamba as Ambassador designate to Malaysia.

President Lungu has also appointed former deputy Inspector General of Police Solomon Jere as High Commissioner designate to Nigeria and former Commissioner of Police Brenda Mutemba as High Commissioner designate to Kenya.

The President has further appointed the Chief of State protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Humphrey Chibanda as Ambassador designate to France.

President Lungu has since challenged the four appointees to justify their posting by by delivering efficiently.

Mr Lungu has emphasized that he is in a hurry to reposition Zambia in international affairs and that he therefore expects robust performance from all Zambian envoys serving abroad.

He adds that he expects very high performance from all serving in the Foreign Service and will not tolerate misconduct and laziness from anyone.

Meanwhile, President Lungu has delegated his authority to Vice President Inonge Wina, to discharge functions of the office of President from 6th February, 2015 till his return from Zimbabwe. The delegation of power is pursuant to Article 39 of the Constitution of Zambia.

The President leaves for Harare this morning for a day’s trip to pay traditional courtesy call on the chairman of SADC, President Robert Mugabe.

President Lungu will return to proceed with his retreat to conclude the formation of government.
