The Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) says it is depressing for government to remain quiet over the issue of continued delayed salaries for unionized workers at Times of Zambia.

ZCTU president Nkole Chishimba says it is unfortunate that despite the efforts by his union seeking dialogue with government over the matter, no positive response has been forthcoming.

Mr. Chishimba says there is urgent need for the government to seriously move in and address the plight of the unionized workers at the Times of Zambia who have gone without pay for a long time.

He says respecting the plight of workers should be key for any government institution if they workers have to put in their best.

Mr. Chishimba has since indicated that he will soon call for an urgent meeting with the Zambia Union of Journalists (ZUJ) to see how best the issue can be handled.

He has since appealed to the workers at the state owned media to be patient as ZCTU engages the Zambia Union of Journalists on the way forward.
