Izwe Loans Zambia, a micro financial institution, has pledged to continue supporting government in providing educational support to deserving citizens.

Speaking during the 2014/2015 scholarship award presentation in Lusaka today, Izwe Loans Zambia Board Chairman Shipango Muteto says Izwe loans in 2012 launched the three million kwacha public sector tertiary education scholarship fund were ten students were awarded the first scholarships.

Mr. Muteto states that from the time the initiative was launched, twenty seven bursaries have been awarded and over K400, 000 paid to various public learning institutions in Zambia covering costs of tuition, examination and other training related costs.

Mr. Muteto adds that he is proud that the initiative was the first of its kind, stating that he had never seen a quantum of investment in education scholarships from a business institution in the private sector, specifically the micro financing industry.

He says Izwe loans has taken a lead in partnering with government through provision of education bursaries which he believes government alone cannot provide to all deserving citizens.

And in giving a vote of thanks on behalf of the students awarded bursaries, Bwalya Bwalya, says the scholarships given to them is a lifelong gift.

Bwalya, a second year student at University of Zambia pursuing a Bachelor Degree of Arts with Education, says the opportunity received is a rare one given the growing number of needs in the society and the ever rising educational costs.
