The request for President Edgar Lungu to boost the mediation process in the South Sudan civil war has been described as an indication of the confidence other countries have in Zambia.

The Southern African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) is of the view that such honor should not only go to President Lungu but to the people of Zambia as whole.

SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Cheembe says while the country continues to get such recognition, it is also important that it continues to work towards consolidating its own peace.

Mr. Cheembe says the people of Zambia need to be mindful that the peace they have enjoyed since independence does not come on a silver platter.

He says Zambians must continue to exhibit the highest levels of tolerance and co-existence by loving one another.

Mr. Cheembe states that this is in addition to continuing the practice of basic fundamentals of democracy in way that all regions and tribes are given opportunity to participate in the governance process of the country.

He says his organization is further calling for the revision of laws such as the Public Order Act that have been a source of conflict.
