Zesco dominate 2014 award nominations

Zesco-Utd FCZesco United dominate the nominations roll for the 2014 MTN FAZ awards with five nominees in four of five categories on offer.

The 2014 champions alone dominate the the Player of the Year Award with two nominees.

Defender Nyambe Mulenga, who missed the 2015 Africa Cup after breaking his leg in a car accident, is among the 2014 Zambia Player of the Year nominees.

His Zesco clubmate and striker Jackson Mwanza and ex-Nkana striker Reynold Kampamba are also in the race for the top prize.

Mwanza, though, has already picked up one award with the top scorers honour for his 15 league goals last year.

Zesco trainer George Lwandamina is up for the Coach of the Year Award.

Lwandamina is up against Aggrey Chiyangi of Zanaco and Power Dynamos’ Tennant Chilumba.

Zesco striker Winston Kalengo is vying for the Most Disciplined Player Award together with Nkana and Zambia defender Donashano Malama.

Kampamba, who last week left Nkana to join Egyptian club Wadi Degla on three year deal, is also vying for the Most Disciplined Player Award.

Meanwhile, there is a tight race for the 2014 Young Player Award where the nominees are Zambia and Choma Eagles’ Spencer Sautu including his Under-20 teammate midfield partner Larry Bwalya who joined Power Dynamos this season from Nchanga Rangers.

Zambia Under-17 captain and Nchanga Rangers midfielder Patson Daka is the third face in the race for the Young Player honour.

Winners will be announced during the MTN/FAZ Awards gala on February 20 at Moba Hotel in Kitwe.
