I will not interfere – Katema assures Chiefs

Newly appointed Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Minister Joseph Katema has assured the traditional leadership in the country that he will not interfere in succession wrangles as advised by President Edgar Lungu.

Dr Katema says he will instead work closely with traditional leaders in uniting Zambians.

He says traditional leaders are influential the reason why he has identified them as key in helping unite the people of Zambia.

Dr. Katema adds that Chiefs play a critical role in the governance process.

He says he has no doubt in his mind that the traditional leadership will work closely with government in preaching peace and unity among the Zambian people.

Dr. Katema states that the traditional leadership in the country should be rest assured that he will allow them to do things according to their tradition and culture.
