Lungu encouraged to adopt proactive policies

National Alliance for Citizens Participation (NAPC) has encouraged President Edgar Lungu to adopt proactive and ambitious policies in order to lift the majority Zambians out of poverty.
Alliance General Secretary Kelvin Chitala in a statement to QFM News says President Lungu should consider investing in high productive and labour intensive sectors such as agriculture, construction, textiles and tourism so that the poverty levels in the country can be reduced.
Mr. Chitala says government under President Lungu should aim to achieve growth that is distributed equitably through enhancing income earning opportunities for the poor.
He notes that it is only by enabling the poorer households to favorably participate in the growth process that poverty can sustainably be reduced in the country.
Mr. Chitala states that there is an urgent need to focus on addressing challenges in the agricultural sector to mitigate the high cost of commodities, which he believes can be done by investing in the agriculture sector.
