The Zambia National Women’s Lobby (ZNWL) has expressed shock at the news of a man who was arrested for allegedly defiling his ailing daughter while he nursed her at the University Teaching Hospital.
ZNWL Board Chairperson Beauty Katebe says the news has left her organisation in a state of bewilderment as such an occurrence is too inhuman to be true.
Ms Katebe says a biological father taking advantage of a very ill girl child by incessantly abusing her sexually does not even qualify to be termed as animalistic behaviour, as most animals do care for their offspring.
She says her organisation is at a loss for words and can only imagine the sort of evil that resides in the hearts of men who are capable of harming a child who is already in pain and weak.
The Zambia National Women’s Lobby Chairperson has called upon the law enforcement agencies to thoroughly investigate the case so that no stone is left unturned.
Ms Katebe has further implored the judiciary to expeditiously dispense the case so that other would be offenders can learn from this matter.
She states that all kinds of abuse especially of a sexual nature on children and women are unacceptable and should be punishable by the highest punitive measures permissible by law.
Ms Katebe notes that sexual abuse affects the emotional and psychological wellbeing of children and women, stating that a person who has been sexually abused is never the same.
She has since appealed to all the people in the nation to pray against this evil of rampant sexual abuse of children and women that has crept into the society.
