Scott advised to retire; he has worked hard

Former Vice President Guy Scott has been commended for having successfully led the country during what has been described as a challenging power transition period.

The Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD) says the difficult work Dr. Scott was able to do as Acting Republican President in just three months is equivalent to the work of three years.

CPD Executive Director Neo Simutanyi says he personally has never seen a power transition that has been as difficult as the one Dr Scott presided over where conflict reached the extent of members from one political party fighting each other over succession.

Dr. Simutanyi has told Qfm News by telephone that this is in addition to some members leaving their own political parties to campaign for another political party.

He says this is why his organization holds the position that Dr. Scott should be applauded as he himself has been a victim of what has transpired in the last three months despite having been Acting President.

Dr. Simutanyi has since advised Dr. Scott to retire from active politics now that he has managed to successfully lead the country through transition necessitated by the death of President Michael Sata.

He says now is the best time for Dr. Scott to live a quiet life.

Dr. Simutanyi however, notes that the former Vice President still reserves the right to remain as Member of Parliament and vice president of the ruling Patriotic Front.
