Youths implored not to engage in violence

Youths for Transparency and Integrity (YTI) has pleaded with the youths in the country not to engage themselves in violence regardless of the outcome of the presidential election.

YTI Executive Director Bright Muchimba notes that youths should not allow themselves to be used as tools of violence after the announcement of the final presidential election results but instead accept the outcome.

Mr. Muchimba adds that those who will be celebrating should do so in an acceptable manner.

He says youths should realize that there is still life after the elections hence the need for them to refrain from activities that would endanger their lives but conduct themselves in a peaceful manner.

Mr. Muchimba states that in the meantime the people of Zambia and especially the youth should continue waiting for the Electoral Commission of Zambia to announce the final results.

He has further appealed to political leaders to term their cadres so that peace is maintained even as the new president is declared.

And the Authentic Advocates for Justice and Democracy (AAJD) has added its voice in calling for the maintenance of peace in the country after the January 20th presidential election.

AAJD president Emmanuel Sikanyika says his organization is imploring all political parties that have taken part in the presidential election to take responsibility and avoid engaging in any acts that will cause confusion in the country.

Mr. Sikanyika has also called on the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) not to be intimidated in executing its mandate as the collation of votes continues.

Mr Sikanyika says the ECZ should continue being neutral.
