Lungu,HH still neck and neck,as ECZ disowns ZNBC results

Patriotic Front presidential candidate Edgar Lungu and UPND’s Hakainde Hichilema remain neck and neck in the presidential election with results from 121 constituencies so far declared.

Results released this afternoon by Electoral Commission of Zambia Chairperson Irene Mambilima after 10 constituencies were added to the earlier 111 constituencies have Mr Lungu leading with 701,089 votes representing 48.72%, closely followed Mr Hichilema with 674,185 votes representing 46.85%.

FDD’s Edith Nawakwi has 11,770 votes 0.82%,MMD’s Nevers Mumba has 10,737 votes representing 0.75%,UNIP’s Tilyenji Kaunda has 7,884 votes representing 0.55%,Fourth Revolution party’s Eric Chanda has 6,071 representing 0.42%,NAREP’s Elias Chipimo Junior has 4,997 votes representing 0.35%.

Heritage party’s Brigadier General Godfrey Miyanda has 4,694 votes representing 0.33%,Christian Democratic Party’s Daniel Pule has 2,596 votes representing 0.18%,FDA’s Ludwig Sondashi has 1,602 votes representing 0.11% with Green party’s Peter Sinkamba having polled 1,173 votes representing 0.08%.

Justice Mambilima named the ten constituencies were the latest added results have come from as Serenje,Petauke,Lupososhi,Mkushi South,Kaoma central,Mangango,Kabompo West,Zambezi West,Solwezi East and Nalolo.

And the Electoral Commission of Zambia has disowned ZNBC for the wrong results the national broadcaster has been beaming on Television.

ECZ Chairperson Justice Mambilima says the transmission of wrong results by ZNBC has perplexed the commission.

Justice Mambilima says the Commission has since decided to suspend the beaming of results on ZNBC in order to get to the bottom of the matter.

She says it is important for the Commission that correct results are shown to enable members of the public update themselves at every stage.

Justice Mambilima says the received results from the remaining constituencies will now be read physically.
