Govt thanks Zambians for voting peacefully

Government has thanked the people of Zambia for the peaceful manner in which they voted in yesterday’s presidential election.

Chief Government Spokesperson Joseph Katema in a statement says it’s comforting to see that Zambians from diverse backgrounds came together in a peaceful manner to choose a president of their choice.

Dr Katema says this is a manifestation of the peace and unity that has bound the people of Zambia together for the past 50 years of independence under the motto “One Zambia, One Nation.”

He says Government also commends the Zambia Police Service and other law enforcement agencies for the professional manner they upheld law and order in yesterday’s election.

Dr Katema states that Government is confident that Zambians will maintain peace during and after the on-going electoral process.
