Two arrested over death of Lundazi quarry stone dealer

Two people have been arrested in connection with the death of Armstrong Nyirongo a quarry stone dealer of Chanyaulungwe area in Chief Zumwanda of Lundazi District in Eastern province.
Mr. Nyirongo aged 50 is reported to have been killed on 13th January, 2015 around 19:00 hours after which his body was found tied to a big stone using a T-shirt.

Zambia Police spokesperson Charity Munganga-Chanda has disclosed to Qfm News in a statement that the deceased was before his death seen around 09 00 hours with his two workers Ashanti Tonga aged 27 and Joseph Banda aged 24.

Ms. Chanda states Mr. Nyirongo was following day discovered dead by other stone dealers who found the body floating on water in a quarry pit and his two workers were missing.
She says the two were later found by other stone crushers in Chipata District selling crushed stones believed to have been stolen from their employer who is the deceased and were apprehended and surrendered to police.
Ms. Chanda says the suspects have since been charged with murder.
And in another development, eight people died over the weekend in separate accidents which happened in Southern, Eastern and Lusaka Provinces.
