Scott fears unfriendly weather will cause voter apathy

Acting President Guy Scott has concern that the unfriendly weather in some parts of the country will prevent people from coming out in numbers to cast their votes in today’s presidential election.
Speaking after casting his vote at Lusaka Golf Club this morning, Dr. Scott says it is unfortunate that the weather is not very friendly.
Dr. Scott however, says he has done his job and he will now wait for the outcome of the election before he goes on holiday to enjoy his ginger and tonic.
And asked on his political future the after elections, Dr. Scott says he will remain a committed member of the Patriotic Front.
He adds that the decision will lie in the hands of the new President whether to work with him or not.
Dr Scott says he has learnt a lot during the time he has been acting as president and that all the things he went through are part of democracy.

The acting president immediately after casting his vote proceeded to Mr Price stores at Manda Hill where he directed the store’s Manager Anderson Phiri to immediately close the shop and allow the workers to go and vote.
Meanwhile first Republican president Dr Kenneth Kaunda has cast his vote.
Dr Kaunda cast his vote at Woodlands ‘A’ primary school at about 11:25 hours.
MMD president Nevers Mumba also voted at Woodland ‘A’ primary school at about 11:o15 hours, while NAREP President Elias Chipimo Junior voted at 08:00 hours at State House Women’s polling station.
Mr Chipimo says whatever the propaganda during the process leading to the election, NAREP still feels very much part of the election.

Mr Chipimo has also appealed to Zambians to remain prayerful and avoid any violent activities.
And Patriotic Front President Edgar Lungu cast his vote at 10:00 hours at Andrew Mwenya polling station in John Howard accompanied by his wife Esther.
Heritage party President Godfrey Miyanda voted at Chilongololo polling station in Makeni UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema voted at Kabulonga boys secondary school maintaining his confidence of winning the election.
Mr Hichilema said if the election will be free and fair and he happens to lose he will accept the outcome.
FDD President Edith Nawakwi cast her vote at UNZA Sports Hall at 10:00hours.
The FDD leader was delayed to vote after the presiding officer asked her remove the nail polish on her right thumb nail before she could be allowed to cast her.
And Ms Nawakwi expressed disappointment over the move to block women with artificial nails to cast their votes until they have them removed.
She says this is a delaying tactic because government is aware that a lot of women in the country who are her supporters have artificial nails.
