CCMG satisfied polling station had necessary supplies

Christian Churches Monitoring Group (CCMG) has observed that a vast majority of polling stations across the country opened and had all their necessary supplies as of 11:00 hours.

CCMG which is a monitoring group comprising four faith based organizations namely, the Council of Churches in Zambia, the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia, Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection and the Zambia Episcopal Conference has deployed a total of 1,108 monitors among 703 PVT monitors.

In a situational statement, CCMG says information on the vast majority polling stations have opened is based on reports from 648 of its 703 PVT monitors located in every province and every district except Chama.

The CCMG says its PVT monitors report that 97% of polling streams were opened by 06:30 hours and that only three polling streams had not opened as of 09:00 hours.

The Christian Churches Monitoring Group adds that at 60% of polling streams PVT monitors reported that it had rained the night before.

It further states that 99% of polling streams had ballot papers, while 96% of polling streams had a voters register.

The CCMG statement has been jointly signed by EFZ Executive Director Reverend Pukuta Mwanza, CCZ General Secretary Reverend Susanne Matale, ZEC General Secretary Fr Cleophas Lungu and JCTR Director Fr Leonard Chiti.
