Shamenda warns employees ahead of voting day

Shamenda 2Labour and Social Security Fackson Shamenda says any employer who will force an employee to work tomorrow will be committing an illegality.

Mr Shamenda has reiterated that Tuesday, 20th January, 2015 is a public holiday to enable workers to exercise their right to vote in the Presidential by Election.

He has since appealed to all employers to observe the holiday and that no worker should be forced to work as doing so is illegal.

Mr Shamenda however, says institutions providing essential services are expected to make necessary arrangements to ensure that the provision of such services is not disrupted on this day.

He adds that any worker who shall work tomorrow shall be remunerated at the paid Public Holiday rate as per the Laws of Zambia.
