Veteran Politician and former Freedom Fighter Elias Chipimo Senior

Veteran Politician and former Freedom Fighter Elias Chipimo Senior has died.

The Veteran politician was diagnosed with cancer of the stomach and was admitted to Linksfield Cancer hospital in South Africa.

NAREP President Elias Chipimo Junior has confirmed the death of his father to QFM News in a statement.

Mr. Chipimo says his father died around 8:00hrs this morning surrounded by five of his seven children.

Mr. Chipimo says his father died knowing that he is dearly loved and will always be cherished for being the best father his children could have wished for.

He has since thanked everyone that stood in support in good wishes and prayer during the illness of his father.

And NAREP National Secretary Jevan Kamanga has told QFM News in a telephone interview that it is sad to lose the former diplomat at the time the NAREP President is preparing to contest for the republican presidency.

Reverend Kamanga recalls that Mr. Chipimo senior in 2011 when he was travelling to Mporokoso to go and vote, he was involved in a road accident and his wife died.

Meanwhile, UPND President Hakainde Hichilema says Mrs Chipimo was one of Zambia’s greats who helped shape the country in its formative years after independence.

Mr. Hichilema says Mr. Chipimo was not afraid to speak out against wrongs and abuses of power, and for this he was greatly admired.
