Fuel prices key to reducing cost of living – CAPIZ

Christians Against Poverty in Zambia (CAPIZ) says lower fuel prices are key to reducing the cost of living in the country.

CAPIZ President Gregory Chileshe says as an organization they are opposed to the continued high cost of living in the country when various programmes are there to ease the livelihood of the people.

He notes that leaders are to blame for the high levels of poverty in Zambia because they have failed to translate their promises into action.

Evangelist Chileshe says he is hopeful that the next government will endeavor to act on their campaign promises.

He points out that the reduction or increase in international oil prices has a spiral effect on every country including Zambia that is dependent heavily on oil.

Evangelist Chileshe says the next government should be serious when it comes to dealing with programmes to do with poverty alleviation considering that poverty levels in the country remain very high.

Mr Chileshe states that tax-payers’ money should be shared equitably, adding that even the reduction of  prices of  crude oil on international markets should translate into better living standards for the people.

He has since commended the Energy Regulation Board (ERB) for further reducing the prices of fuel.
