Chanda says tribe is no qualification for the Presidency

Patriotic Front Member Sunday Chanda says remarks attributed to veteran politicians Vernon Mwaanga and Daniel Munkombwe that time has come for a Tonga to rule are highly unfortunate because tribe is not a qualification for the Presidency.

Mr. Chanda says one’s tribe is inconsequential when it comes to election to public office, stating that it is therefore a sad state of affairs that Dr Mwaanga and Mr. Mukombwe could resort to tribal politics.

Mr. Chanda says Zambians can be assured of a non-tribal Presidency under PF President Edgar Lungu.

He adds that Mr. Lungu’s Presidency is not about making a particular tribe emerge victorious but is about Zambia emerging strong and united and the PF completing its 5 year mandate.
