The Zambia Episcopal Conference (ZEC) has appealed to the people of Zambians to embrace and work with whoever will be elected president in next week’s presidential election.

ZEC Secretary General Fr. Cleophas Lungu has also appealed to Zambians not to panic but remain calm even as the election day draws closer.

Fr Lungu says Zambians must remain objective and remain united even after the election results have been announced.

He says the church has prayed and is waiting for God to give the country a leader knowing that he has already chosen.

Fr Lungu adds that the people of Zambia should trust God for his choice of a leader as the plan of God is not to harm his people but to prosper them.

He states that when God gives the nation a leader, the country is headed for prosperity.

Fr. Lungu says as a church, they have taken into account what the presidential candidates have promised to do for the people of Zambia and will hold accountable whoever will be elected as president.

He has further urged political parties to be ready for anything and accept the outcome of the election, adding that whatever the outcome, it will be the will of God as the church and the people of Zambia have asked for God’s will to prevail.
