ZCEA urges next govt to deal with nepotism

The Zambia Civic Education Association (ZCEA) says the incoming government should do away with nepotism when it comes to employing people in government by ensuring that everyone who qualifies gets employed.

ZCEA Executive Director Judith Mulenga says most of the people who are qualified in the country are unemployed because those in government only give jobs to those they are related to and those they know even when they are not qualified.

Ms. Mulenga notes that the culture of nepotism should be done away with by the next government if the country has to move forward.

She states that Zambia is a country for all Zambians hence whoever qualifies deserves an appointment regardless of which tribe they belong to.

Ms Mulenga says that as long as nepotism continues, many people will continue to be unemployed and the country will remain at the same level because most of those given jobs do not have the full knowledge of how to go about it.

Ms. Mulenga stresses that professionalism in the appointment of people to positions in government instills confidence in the people of Zambia.
