Zambia’s multiparty democracy is competitive – SACCORD

The Southern African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) has observed that the presidential campaigns have shown how competitive Zambia’s multiparty democracy has become over the years.

SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Cheembe has however, noted with sadness some cases of character assassinations during campaigns.

Mr. Cheembe has told QFM News in a telephone interview that he is hopeful that even after the January 20th polls, politicians will be able to work together for a common goal of developing the nation.

He says Zambians wants to see politicians promoting unity and support each other regardless of their political affiliations.

Mr Cheembe states that the campaigns have shown how Zambia’s democracy has grown considering that all the people are given chance to participate in politics fairly.
