Munkombwe’s HH endorsement will not change anything significantly – Ngóma

Political Scientist Alex Ng’oma says the endorsement of UPND President Hakainde Hichilema by Southern province Minister Daniel Munkombwe will not change anything significantly.

Dr. Ng’oma notes that southern province has been for many years been a UPND stronghold and still remains a stronghold for the opposition party hence Mr. Munkombwe’s move will not change anything.

Dr Ngoma states that it is clear that even without the endorsement of the Southern province Minister; the UPND has chances of performing better in Southern province.Dr Ngoma

He adds that Mr. Munkombwe has also proved to the people that he is a man of wind of change and can decide on the way to go in politics whenever he feels like.

And the endorsement of PF Presidential candidate Edgar Lungu by former Kabwe Central Member of Parliament Austin Chewe has been described as a further affirmation that the ruling party’s victory in next week’s election is certain.

MMD Lusaka province Chairperson Watson Mtonga says Captain Chewe is a powerful member of the former ruling party and commands a lot of support both in the party and the country at large.

In a walk-in interview with QFM Mr. Mtonga says this is why the MMD in Lusaka province has welcomed Captain Chewe’s support of the temporal alliance the MMD faction led by former President Rupiah Banda has made with the PF.

Mr. Mtonga states that once the MMD faction supporting the PF has made sure that Mr Lungu has won, they will immediately go back to the grass roots to reposition and organize its membership in readiness for the 2016 presidential election.

And Mr Mtonga has condemned tribal remarks made by Southern Province Minister Daniel Mukombwe during a UPND rally in Choma recently.

Mr. Mtonga says such tribal remarks have the potential to divide the country.
