Zambia’s advance party heading to Ebebiyin

Chipolopolo trainZambia’s advance party to the 2015 Africa Cup has today(Wednesday) left.

Football Association of Zambia vice president Boniface Mwamelo is leading the advance party and they are expected to be in Ebebiyin at least 24 hours before the team arrives at its’ Group B base.

“We are flying out Wednesday afternoon from Lusaka and should be in Malabo Thursday afternoon,” Mwamelo said.

Mwamelo is accompanied by FAZ treasurer Kelvin Mutafu.

The advance party’s departure means they will have less than 24 hours to make any adjustments in terms of Zambia’s comfort in Ebebiyin and approve of training facilities before the team drives into town late Friday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Zambia’s own arrival has been hit by operational reasons.

Zambia are now expected to arrive 72 hours behind schedule on Friday, January 16 after they were earlier due to land on Wednesday, January 14 at midday.

The team will fly out from Johannesburg to Malabo via Addis Ababa on Thursday, January 15 and arrive in Equatorial Guinea by midday Friday.

Zambia will then fly from Malabo to Mongomo before taking a 45 minute drive to Ebebiyin.

This means the team will only train 24 hours before their opening game against DR Congo that takes place on January 18 at 18h00 CAT.
