PAZA to write to SADC over media coverage during campaign

The Press Association of Zambia (PAZA) will this week write an assessment letter to the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Election Observation Mission for the biased reporting by the public media during campaigns.

PAZA Executive Secretary Patson Phiri has disclosed this development to QFM News in an interview that the conduct of the public media has been pathetic during campaigns.

Mr. Phiri says PAZA wants to share its views with SADC over the reportage exhibited by the public media with the view that they may improve.

He notes that the opposition has no complaints against the private media on how they have covered the campaigns so far, stating that the reporting by the private media has been extraordinary.

Mr Phiri says it is in this vain that the association wishes to share its disappointment with SADC so that they may understand why most politicians are condemning the public media now.

Mr. Phiri says the ruling party has received the best coverage during campaigns by the public media while opposition has been sidelined.
