Grand Coalition welcomes Govt constitution roadmap

The Grand Coalition on the Campaign for a People Driven Constitution has welcomed the release of the Government proposed roadmap and guidelines for public validation of the contents of the final draft Constitution.

Grand Coalition Chairperson Leonard Chiti in a statement says it is hoped that the release of the roadmap is not a campaign gimmick, but a true commitment to bring to an end this process that has dragged for years and gobbled billions of the country’s hard earned money.

Fr Chiti says as Grand Coalition, there position is that the Constitution is not just for political parties, but for all people of Zambia regardless of political affiliation, religion, tribe,race, gender, age, and any such classifications.

Fr Chiti states that the Grand Coalition on the Campaign for a people Driven Constitution is currently studying the contents of the Roadmap it has received from the Government, and will soon be sharing its feedback to the contents of the Government Roadmap.

Government, through the ministry of justice, has released a proposed roadmap for the remaining and final phase of the constitution making process.

Government has since encouraged members of the public to take keen interest in the roadmap by reviewing it and giving feedback to the Ministry of Justice, by 31st January, 2015.
