Patriotic Front President Edgar Lungu has described the burning of a PF branded speed-boat in Lusaka by suspected opposition cadres as an act of provocation which his party does not intend to respond to.

Mr. Lungu says his party is aware that by allegedly burning the PF branded speed-boat and the recent smashing of two cars branded with his posters, the opposition UPND is only daring the PF to react.

Speaking this afternoon when he addressed a rally in Kapiri Mposhi, Mr. Lungu warned that the opposition political party should be wary that the ruling PF has both the numbers and physic to defeat it in a physical fight it is provoking his party to engage in.

Qfm’s Lazarous Sichula reports from Kapiri Mposhi that Mr. Lungu has sternly cautioned UPND president Hakainde Hichilema to restrain his party cadres from provoking the ruling party.

The PF president states that his does not want the opposition UPND to have an opportunity to give an excuse of rendering this month’s presidential election as not being free and fair when it loses.

Mr. Lungu is also calling upon all party members to remain calm amidst all provocations that are allegedly coming from the opposition UPND in order that this month’s presidential election is held in a free and fair atmosphere.

And speaking at the same rally, former President Rupiah Banda has justified his endorsement of Mr. Lungu’s candidature.

Mr. Bands says from the personal interactions he has had with Mr. Lungu he has come to the realization that the ruling PF president is a kind of leader who listens to the people.

He notes that this quality of listening to the people is the best attribute of wisdom he admires in Mr Lungu.

The former Head of State has reiterated that it is for this reason that he still maintains that Mr. Lungu makes the best candidate to be voted in as the county’s next President as he has demonstrated that he wants to work towards bettering Zambia from what it is today.

Mr. Banda has also maintained that despite the PF government dragging him to court, he still holds no grudge against Mr. Lungu or the ruling PF because he is a man who believes in forgiveness.

Meanwhile former Kabwe Central Member of Parliament Austin Chewe at the same rally endorsed the candidature of Mr. Lungu.

Captain Chewe says his action has been prompted by the fact that Mr. Lungu’s leadership is one that is borne to the people as opposed to being an imposition on the people.

He says he thus thinks that Zambia’s democracy has matured and that all people that mean well and who want to see a better Zambia should vote for the PF candidate in this month’s presidential election.
