RCZ condemns political violence

The Reformed Church in Zambia in Eastern Province has condemned the political violence which has been seen taking root in some political parties.

RCZ Chipata Central Congregation Overseer Reverend Dr. Clement Mwanza has called on the Church and all well-meaning citizens to condemn political violence which is threatening the country’s peace.

He observed that the country’s freedom fighters left a good legacy of peace which should not be taken for granted and that all concerned Zambians should endeavor to ensure that peace continues to prevail.

Reverend Mwanza said Zambians should reject this political violence which some people are using as a quick way to get into power.

He has urged all those participating in the elections to carry out issue based campaigns and tell the people what they are offering on the table and not use violence or campaign on tribal lines.

Reverend Dr. Mwanza also urged youths to stay away from violent campaigns which their leaders are perpetrating noting that God has productive plans for them as young people.

He said the youths should know that they will not be youths forever but that they are the ones who will take up leadership.

And Ms. Nawakwi who was part of the congregants called on the church to pray for the country so that God can help the nation chose a caring and credible leader among the 11 candidates taking part in the Presidential elections.

Ms. Nawakwi has since called on voters to choose a leader who will ensure that the country has a new constitution before 2016 elections because that is the only way most of the challenges including corruption will be sorted out.
