The National Restoration Party is disturbed by the recent claims by the UPND that the Electoral Commission of Zambia is scheming to rig the forthcoming Presidential by election.
NAREP Presidential Assistant David Kapoma says the party notes with concern that the UPND has continued accusing the ECZ without facts.
Mr Kapoma says NAREP feels such claims have the potential of undermining the electoral process and can cause unrest if not handled with caution.
He says the ECZ has done a tremendous job in promoting a transparent election and should be left to do its work professionally without intimidation from any group of politicians.
Mr Kapoma has urged the UPND to be patient and avoid causing false alarm.
He also called on all political stakeholders in this election to ensure that the country records yet another democratic milestone of a free, fair and non- violent election.
Meanwhile UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema has described as unfortunate but understandable consequence NAREP President Elias Chipimo Junior’s temporary suspension of his presidential campaign owing to his father sickness.
Mr Hichilema says he is saddened to hear that Elias Chipimo Senior is unwell, and has wished his family all the best and pray for his speedy recovery.
He says he looks forward to future opportunities to agree and disagree with Mr Chipimo Junior in the political arena, as is natural and healthy in a democracy.
