DEC nabs Tanzanian national for trafficking in cocaine

The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) in Muchinga Province has arrested and jointly charged a Tanzanian national and three Zambians for trafficking in cocaine.

Omali Saidi, 22, a Tanzanian national of Manguluweni area in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania has been arrested and jointly charged with Izukanji Chanda, 22, of Tindi village in Nakonde District, Obi Sinkamba, 29, also of Nakonde District and an 18 year-old boy of Kansa area in Kasama District for trafficking in 5 sachets of cocaine and 253g of cannabis.

The four were also found in possession of paraphernalia suspected to be used in administering drugs.

Also arrested in Muchinga Province is Alice Nakanyika, 44, of Shemu Village in Isoka District for trafficking in 60 bundles of miraa weighing 30.45kg.

Meanwhile the Commission in Central Province has arrested three women of Luano Valley for trafficking in cannabis.

Those arrested include Ennie Zimba, 47, a peasant farmer of Jordan village for trafficking in cannabis seeds weighing 26.80kg, Bridget Moonga, 19, a peasant farmer of Milimo village for trafficking in 5.3kg of loose cannabis and Dorcas Hamboza, 35, a peasant farmer of spider village for trafficking in 2kg of cannabis seeds.

In other parts of the country, the Commission has arrested and jointly charged Temwani N’gambi, 29, an inmate of Mumbwa State Prison and Jericho Njobvu, 24, also an inmate of the same prison for trafficking in 30 balls of cannabis weighing 12.5g.

And in Kalomo, the Commission has arrested Pendrew Siamwinde, 61, a peasant farmer of Silumba ‘A’ village in Kalomo District for trafficking in 9.173kg of cannabis and Joe Kayongo, 56, a peasant farmer of Mapatizya Township in Kalomo District for trafficking in 3.02kg of loose cannabis.

All suspects will appear in court soon.
