The opposition National Restoration Party (NAREP) President Elias Chipimo has temporarily suspended his presidential campaign in the remaining nine days.

Mr. Chipimo told journalists at a media briefing this morning that this is in order for him to spend time with his father who was diagnosed with stomach cancer citing that his Father must experience the blessing of having children.

Mr. Chipimo however explains that his time away does not amount to the end of NAREP’S participation in the fourth coming presidential by-election and should not be read as a sign of endorsement of any candidate.

He has asked the people of Zambia to pray for his father as he battles through his cancer and that they also respect his time away from the campaigns to be with his father.

Mr. Chipimo has urged his supporters across the country to continue with the campaigns in his absence and ensure that peace prevails wherever they go.

He further states that his dedication to the journey he started nearly five years ago is as firm as ever stressing that he will never waiver.

And NAREP National Secretary Jevan Kamanga says this is not for the people of Zambia to look at who is spending how much money or who is speaking the loudest but it is time to create a strong foundation for the next fifty years.

Rev Kamanga says if people vote for the Patriotic Front (PF) or the United Party for National Development (UPND) they will be sending the country into destruction stressing that the only person who is able to move the country forward in terms of peace is Mr. Chipimo.
